Telephone Etiquettes
|
|
Communication skill is being known as a rich source to make a person famous and success. Telephone etiquettes is to be observed and followed carefully. You are communicating your view and ideas to other through telephone. The listener not only listening your words but also listens
your heart.
You may fail not because of lack of ability or intellectual but due to lack of desire, discipline, dedication and direction.
1. Short and Sweet :
It is more important to give the impression that you lead a full active life even though you might be facing lots of problems and challenges. By keeping your initial Telephone conversation brief, you will give the person impression that you are in busy and demand. Also if you are ending the conversation it will keep you in the position to control others.
2. Leave them High :
People usually remember what you say last. So, its important to prepare well for ending the conversation, making a effort to leave a positive note.
3. Add Purpose :
Don’t just call to chitchat. Remember the rule “Short and Sweet”. Ready with a purpose to your call. This plan will serve you as a back up weapon.
4. Be Positive :
Complaints are a real turn off. Once in while is OK. You can avoid looking needy by keeping your emotional baggage to yourself at the beginning. Make an effort to keep all the conversations positive.
5. Leave a message only on second call :
You should avoid leaving a message on the first call. Upon second call leave a message and don’t call again until they get back to you.
6. Time your call Well :
Phone calls during working hours are complete NO. Set up a time in evening or free time to have a discussion. To plan a meet inform them on weekdays. Avoid making calls on weekends.
7. Stick to the point while leaving message :
Don’t give irrelevant information in message.

Healthcare outsourcing cos on the prowl in US, UK
SOURCE: EconomicTimes
DATE: November 9th, 2007
It isn’t just the domestic pharma companies that are on the prowl to acquire overseas companies. Healthcare outsourcing firms such as Helios & Matheson, Apollo Health Street and Globerian are in talks with companies in the US and UK for buyouts and hope to seal $20-100 million deals by early next year.
Chennai-based Helios & Matheson is in advance talks with two companies, one each in Belgium and France, and expect to close a $50-100 million all-cash buyout by March next year. “The company has a cash reserve of Rs 85 crore and the rest would be raised through internal accruals and debt. We plan to complete the transaction in three phases spanning two years,“ says Helios & Matheson MD GK Muralikrishna. The company, which develops and provides customised healthcare technology and services, recorded Rs 395 crore in revenues last year. As the cost of healthcare services mount in the US and European countries, hospitals and pharma companies are increasingly outsourcing their back office and IT services work to Indian firms.

29 India-based IT cos among world's best 100
January 30, 2008
Twenty-nine India-based companies have been listed among the best 100 IT service providers in a new survey, carried out with a view to assist business heads of major outsourcers identify reliable, innovative and tech savvy partners.
The toppers from each of the 10 categories that were identified included four companies each from India and the US and one company each from China and Mexico, said the survey by CyberMedia and Global Services Magazine.
They included India's Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Technologies, Genpact, WNS Global Services, America's EDS, Sitel, EPAM Systems and Computer Sciences Corporation, Mexico's Softtek and China's Neusoft, a release by Global Services Magazine said.
"The presence of four companies each from China and Malaysia, and three each from Russia and Brazil serves as a gentle reminder that these countries are emerging as viable outsourcing destinations," it said.
The year 2007 reported a total of 436 M&A deals in the services industry. Nearly one-third of the Global Services survey respondents said that they merged with or acquired one or more providers. Of these, 11 per cent confirmed acquisition of a consulting firm. The Indian service providers who derive between two-third to three-fourth of their revenues from the US are back to the drawing board to consider non-US avenues.
While many IT-services companies were looking towards Europe and Japan as potential markets, others have strengthened plans for servicing the maturing domestic Indian market, it said. India has emerged as the hub for global delivery with 57 per cent of the employees engaged in delivery centers located in India, followed by 18 per cent in the US.
Among the top ten winners would be the USD 4.3 billion software provider Tata Consultancy Services leading the list of best performing IT services companies. The best performing infrastructure service provider has gone to HCL Technologies, one of the earliest providers of Remote Infrastructure Management. The best performing BPO provider has gone to Genpact, which boasts over 30 delivery centers in the US, Mexico, India, China, Philippines, Romania and Hungary.
"With nearly one fourth of WNS Global Services' 17,000-employees working with FAO customers, it is not surprising to see this company top the best performing FAO providers list," the statement notes.
The title for the best performing Human Resources Outsourcing company goes to EDS, which was also listed among the top 10 best performing infrastructure service providers.
Infosys Tech was listed among the top 10 in five categories.
The other companies to feature among the top firms across multiple categories include India's HCL Technologies with four and America's 24/7 Customer and Neoris, India's Genpact, EXL Services, Tata Consultancy Services and WNS Global Services and Philippines' SPi Technologies listed among top 10 in three categories. |

Microsoft offers $44.6B for Yahoo
Perhaps this time government regulators ought to consider just saying no.
Unlikely, perhaps - at least here in U.S.A., Inc. - but it's difficult to understand what the concept of antitrust means anymore if the world's most powerful technology company is allowed to buy its No. 1 competitor's No. 1 competitor.
Minutes ago Microsoft announced a $44.6 billion offer to put Yahoo out of its misery.
While Yahoo stockholders will likely be popping champagne corks this morning, the rest of us ought to be taking a considerably more sober approach to the deal and its implications.
On the one hand, it could be argued that Yahoo would be nothing but a $44.6 billion anchor that Microsoft would regret having taken on before all the paperwork is completed. Let Redmond choke on it, you might say.
On the other, this just can't be good for competition, consumers or the Internet - no matter the obligatory this-is-for-our-own-good spin being put on the deal by Microsoft.

Oracle/BEA Becomes Reality - Strike While the Iron is Hot!
Oracle and BEA have finally reached a definitive agreement under which Oracle will acquire all outstanding shares of BEA for $8.5 billion. The deal is expected to close in mid-2008. Now is the time to take advantage of the confusion with their customers and partners! See below for the quick take on what this means and what you can do about it starting now.
How Oracle is spinning this announcement
• "Oracle expects that its Fusion Middleware will evolve as the centerpiece of the combined companies’ middleware offerings going forward. BEA products are expected to evolve into components of Fusion Middleware."
• "The combination extends Oracle’s middleware capabilities to include a comprehensive set of enterprise application infrastructure solutions. Specifically, BEA offers complementary products including a leading set of Java-based
Application Server technology [Weblogic] or Web-based applications, and a leading Java-based messaging and transaction processing platform [Tuxedo]."
• This "extends our strategic relationships with customers and partners; and increases penetration in key regions like China."

A NICE STORY:-
|
|
| |
There was a gentleman walking with two heavy suitcases in an airport terminal. Someone approached and asked him what time it was. The gentleman bends down to park the two heavy suitcases and stares at his watch. But this was no ordinary watch! He touches a tiny button and his administrative assistant's face appears.
He asks her, "Mary, what time is it?" Mary answers instantly and with a smile!
The questioner is thoroughly impressed!!!
He asks, "What kind of a watch is that?"
"It's like a TV with two-way real-time communication," the gentleman explains. He adds that the watch is the latest technology with Intel's brand new 128-bit chip with processor speed of 10 Gigahertz.
The onlooker is now quite impressed and wanted to know if he could buy this watch from the gentleman. They agree on a price and the cash was handed immediately. The gentleman takes his watch out and hands it over and then walks away.
The new owner stares at the two heavy suitcases and shouts, "Sir, you forgot your suitcases."
The gentleman stops, smiles, and replies, "No, they are yours now. They are the modems you need for your new watch.

Gandhi Jayanti celebrates the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi popularly known as the Father of the Nation. Born on the 2nd of October 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat. He is known for his invaluable contribution in India's freedom struggle. His principles of truth, non-violence and honesty are still remembered today. Mahatma Gandhi was an intensely active personality. He was interested in everything that concerns the individual or society. He is best known as the matchless political leader who evolved the new technique of "satyagraha". His fight against untouchability and the notions of superiority and inferiority by birth are also fairly well known. For India, his greatest service was, perhaps, the emancipation of Indian women. While his stay in South Africa in the earlier part of his life, he protested against the colonial and racial discrimination and the Asiatic (Black) Act and the Transvaal Immigration Act with the aid of a brilliant strategic move of starting a non-violent civil disobedience movement. He returned to India in 1915.
He was the person behind the Satyagraha Ashram in Ahmedabad and the Sabarmati Ashram, which became a platform for introducing long-needed social reforms such as 'Harijan' welfare, small-scale industries and self-reliance and rehabilitation of lepers. His fight to give equal rights to each and every person of the society irrespective of which strata they belong made him immortal among us. He tried to attained moksha by service to mankind. Gandhiji portrays a multi-faceted moral and spiritual messiah. His tireless endeavor to make people understand the basic happiness of life is to be happy with whatever you have, thus showing the only way to save the world. It is his philosophies and morals of life, which will make keep alive in our minds forever.
