Thanks a bunch to everyone for the tremendous response we got after the first edition of our news letter. We are back again with some new updates as we step into the month of June.
The month of May was full of action for us at TGS, Bangalore, with tremendous activity taking place both on recruitment front as well as technical spectrum.
In line with our continued endeavour to strive for excellence, we are looking for opportunities as well as challenges that can help us in bringing out our best. We strongly believe that "happiness does not come from doing easy work, but from the afterglow of satisfaction that comes after the achievement of a difficult task that demanded our best". We invite suggestions from management and would be happy to commit to take up any additional challenging assignment over and above our regular team deliverables. Helios & Matheson North America Reports First Quarter EPS of $0.09
NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 09, 2007 -- Helios & Matheson North America Inc. ("Helios and Matheson") (NASDAQ: HMNA), an IT and Business Process Outsourcing ("BPO") services provider to Fortune 1000 Companies and other large organizations, today reported financial results for its first quarter ended March 31, 2007. The Company reported revenue of $5.9 million for the first quarter 2007, which is virtually flat with the same period of the previous year, and compares to $6.3 million in the fourth quarter 2006. The Company reported net earnings of $211,000 or $0.09 per diluted share compared to a loss of $(139,000) or $(0.06) per basic share for the same period of the previous year and $297,000 or $0.12 per diluted share for the fourth quarter in 2006.

Consulting revenue, in the first quarter of 2007, included higher margin project revenue, from a project that began in the fourth quarter of 2006, and was substantially completed during the first quarter of 2007.
The Company's gross margin increased from 32.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2006 to 33.5 percent in the first quarter of 2007, due to an increase in higher margin project revenue. This also compares to gross margin of 27.3 percent for the first quarter of 2006. Selling, general and administrative costs ("SG&A") were $1.8 million in the first quarter, an increase of $117,000 or 7 percent from the fourth quarter 2006 level. SG&A costs increased 3 percent from the prior year first quarter level.
"Our revenues were down slightly from the prior year levels while fixed price projects helped to boost gross margins for the current quarter. Going forward we will continue our efforts to expand our revenue base by driving our technology driven business solutions and services in large underserved business areas we have identified. Utilizing our on-shore and off-shore capabilities, we also intend to further penetrate the outsourcing market with effective solutions to reduce costs and increase development capacity," commented Mr. BenTov, Helios and Matheson's President and CEO.
"Our balance sheet continued to improve as our current ratio increased to 4.03 from 3.10 at the end of the previous quarter, our tangible book value improved to $2.65 from $2.55 and we continue to have no long-term debt," added Mr. BenTov. |

The Board of Helios and Matheson today approved a 20% interim dividend in the nature of special dividend to celebrate the company’s 15th anniversary.
Highlights for the quarter and year ended March 31, 2007
Results for the quarter ended March 31, 2007
- Income was Rs. 109.42 crore for the fourth quarter, an increase of 75.7% over the corresponding quarter in the previous year
- Operating profit was Rs. 24.14 crore reflecting an increase of 48% YoY
- Net profit increased to Rs. 16.98 crore vis-à-vis Rs. 11.29 crore for Q4 FY06, an increase of 50%
- Earnings per share (annualized) for the quarter ended March 31, 2007 was Rs. 33.94

Results for the year ended March 31, 2007
- Income for the year was Rs. 395.58 crore, as compared to Rs. 221.34 crore for FY06, a YoY increase of 78.7%
- Operating profit for FY07 was Rs. 85.13 crore, a jump of 50% in comparison to the previous year
- Net profit after tax was Rs. 59.91 crore reflecting a 58% growth compared to FY06.
- Cash and cash equivalents as on March 31, 2007 stands at Rs. 109.06 crore.
- Earnings per share increased from Rs. 19.06 in FY06 to Rs. 29.94 in FY07, testimony to the company’s relentless focus on the bottom line.

Hyderabad Feb. 27 IT services provider Helios and Matheson and the Indian School of Business (ISB) have announced partnership to host the semi-finals of the `Global Social Venture Competition' (GSVC).
Announcing the partnership with Helios and Matheson, Mr Ajit Rangnekar, Deputy Dean, ISB, in a statement said: "we share the same ideology which is to create a lasting change in society in a viable and sustainable manner."
The Chairman, Helios & Matheson, Mr V. Ramachandiran, said, "the focus is to encourage social entrepreneurship with high social impact."
GSVC encourages scripting innovative business plans and setting up social ventures that have clear and quantifiable social objectives and are financially sustainable. The Asia Semi-finals Presentation Round of the GSVC will be held at ISB from March 9-10. A total of 118 business plans were sent in from 26 schools in seven Asian countries for the preliminary evaluation round. Part of the entry requirement was that the business plans include a `Social Return on Investment' analysis.
Sixteen teams have been short-listed. The winning presentations will be competing with entries from other continents in the finals to be held in Haas, Berkeley, US in April.

INFOSYS GRABS TOP SLOT IN APPLICATIONS OUTSOURCING

Indian IT giant Infosys Technologies has received the top score for overall strategy in applications outsourcing (AO) among North American AO providers, a Forrester Research report said.
India's second largest software exporter has managed to gain the score on the back of a strong reputation for cultural fit among North American customers as well as its capability in the AO space, the company said citing the Forrester Wave: North American Applications Outsourcing Q1 report.
In its latest guidance, Infosys Technologies said it is aiming to grow its revenues by 24.6 per cent in 2007-08 and reach four billion dollar-mark. "Infosys is living in the real world. Its vision is strong on what it describes as Modular Global Sourcing, in which various suppliers work together to deliver innovation in the customer environment, and it has adjusted its vision for engagement governance accordingly," Forrester said.
On the 'Modular Global Sourcing' concept, Infosys Strategic Global Sourcing head Sukhen Patel said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange that by applying the fundamental concepts of modularisation to business process and IT services sourcing, Infosys is helping customers realise operational efficiencies and enabling business innovation.

IT, ITeS REVENUES TO CROSS RS 4.58 LAKH CRORE IN FIVE YRS

The Indian IT and ITES sector is projected to grow 18 percent in the next five years to become an industry worth over Rs 4.58 lakh crore by 2011, an infotech analyst said on Wednesday.
The industry clocked over Rs 1.98 lakh crore revenue last year, a jump of 31 percent over the preceding year. While domestic IT/ITeS revenue stood at Rs 68,411 crore, exports was Rs 1.30 lakh crore in 2006.
The industry is projected to grow at 18 percent compounded annual growth rate for the next five years to cross an estimated 100 billion dollars (over Rs 4.58 lakh crore) revenue in 2011, International Date Corporation said in a release.
By 2011, exports of IT/ITeS is likely to yield a revenue of Rs 2.89 lakh crore while domestic revenue would be 1.68 lakh crore. This will be a significant milestone for the industry and will surely mean a lot in terms of contribution to the country's GDP, employment generation and a whole host of gains, which ICT usage brings along with it, said Kapil Dev Singh, Country Manager, IDC (India) Limited.
On the domestic front, IT/ITeS spend has been estimated at Rs 68,411 crore in 2006, a gain of 26 percent over 2005.
